Bellarena, the beautiful strand

We might be ever so slightly biased. But it has been said by many a visitor that the setting of the Ulster Gliding Club offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Northern Ireland. It is no wonder the name Bellarena means 'beautiful strand' in Latin.

In 2006, Bellarena was designated as an AONB (Area of Natural Beauty) by the Department of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Affairs, with recognition and protection given to its diverse natural, cultural and built heritage.

With Lough Foyle and the hills of Donegal to the west, and Binevenagh Mountain to the east, we are indeed simply spoiled for gorgeous views. The club's grounds are a photographer's and nature walker's delight, and we are happy to welcome non-gliding visitors who wish to enjoy our grounds.

"How good was that! The freedom and the silence was fantastic." Rodney Conway - Belfast

"I felt safe, right from the start. And the views were unbelievable" PBC - Carrickfergus

"Fantastic fun, and a great bunch of people. I'll be back for sure." Peter McCleane - Wexford
