One-day training courses are generally available
by prior arrangement on Saturday, Sunday or on other days as mutually
agreed. The course will be on a one-to-one basis with a qualified
gliding instructor and will include 3 instructional flights in
a two-seat dual-control glider. The trainee will be shown how
the controls work in flight and will have a good opportunity to
handle the controls under the watchful eye of the instructor.
In addition, the courses will cover ground handling of the glider
together and an introduction other topics as appropriate.
Participants will receive a pilots' log book to
record their flying progress. The course will commence at 0930
hrs and end at 1700 hrs. Meals are not included. We regret that
there is no on-site catering provided however tea making and cooking
facilities are available in the visitor centre. Participants should
bring a pack lunch and may make use of the dining tables in the
visitor centre or the picnic tables provided immediately outside
the Visitor Centre.
Price - £195. Book and pay in advance. The price
includes three months membership that will commence on the date
of the first lesson. In the event that bad weather seriously curtails
or prevents course flying, a pro-rata or full refund will be made.
During the remainder of the three months membership, further lessons
will be charged at £35 for adults or £27.50 for juniors.
