training courses are arranged according to demand and are normally held on Thursdays
and Fridays however other arrangements can be made. The course shall comprise
a maximum of three trainees and over the two days each will have 5 instructional
flights with a qualified gliding instructor in a two-seat dual-control glider.
The trainee will be shown how the controls work in flight and will have a good
opportunity to handle the controls under the watchful eye of the instructor. In
addition, the course will cover all aspects of ground handling together with an
introduction to other topics as appropriate. Participants will receive a pilots'
log book to record their flying progress. The course will commence at 0930 hrs
and end at 1700 hrs each day.
Meals are not included. We regret that there
is no on-site catering provided however tea making and cooking facilities are
available in the visitor centre. Participants should bring a pack lunch and may
make use of the dining tables in the visitor centre or the picnic tables provided
immediately outside the Visitor Centre.
Accommodation is not included but
B&B and guest house accommodation is
available nearby at very reasonable prices. There is no extra charge for course
members who wish to camp/caravan on site during the course (subject to availability).
Toilets, showers and drinking water are available.
Price - £295. Book and pay in advance.The price
includes three months membership that will commence on the date
of the first lesson. In the event that bad weather seriously curtails
or prevents course flying, a pro-rata or full refund will be made.
During the remainder of the three months membership, further lessons
will be charged at £35 for adults or £27.50 for juniors.
